I have had a deeply-abiding interest in the Palestine/Israel “conflict”
since visiting there with a United Methodist study group in 2008. It was an incredibly eye-opening experience, and I came home determined to do whatever I could to share what I had learned. At the same time, I have been looking for a
way to serve – to give back for the many blessings I have received in my
life. When I learned about the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), it seemed like a good "fit" for their needs and my abilities. You can read more about EAPPI on the sidebar to this blog, and on their websites (www.eappi-us.org and www.eappi.org).
I will take my first step on this journey later this week when I travel to New York for Volunteer in Mission training with the United Methodist Church. Later, I will receive additional training with EAPPI in Washington, D.C. and Jerusalem.
In the meantime, I ask for prayers (or "good thoughts" if you aren't religious). I also ask that you continue reading this blog - or, better yet, subscribe - and spread the word about it. Finally, if you wish to make a financial contribution, you can send a check to First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson, Portland, OR 97201. Please put "EAPPI" on the message line so it will be credited to me.
